This statue left me rather non-plussed. The town is famous for Nasreddin Hoça, a parodist of human foolishness. However, this statue seems to honour an other man, hızır bey, who lived 1407-1458. He became the first judge in Istanbul after its capture in 1453.
There seems to be an “more than life size” statue of Nasreddin Hoça somewhere, which I obviously missed.
