Statue of Emperor Trajan (98-117 AD). Found in Perge in 1979 at the north portico of the palaestra of the South Bath, 2.48 meters. Roman, 2nd century AD.
He is shown wearing a wreath to emphasize his victorious return from Davia. Next to him sits a Dacian prisoner of war. Lion heads and eagles decorate the pterygs, the rounded panels at the bottom of the armor. The head of Medusa decorates the centre of his armour, below are two griffons and at the bottom Acanthus leaves. Arms and legs are protected by leather straps.
