A small mosque with a metal minaret in Syrian style. In Turkey, it is called a ‘çardak minare’ (pergola minaret).
The pergola-style upper part of the minaret made it possible for the Muezzin to launch the call for prayer to all directions at the same moment. But – since loudspeakers were installed – he doesn’t have to climb any steps anymore; if he is lucky, he can call for prayer through a micro. If he isn’t, his skill has been replaced by a recording on tape or CD. Progress can’t be stopped easily.
