The ‘inverted T’ ground plan of the mosque is still early-Ottoman, and related to that of some mosques in Bursa and Edirne. However, in comparison, major changes can be observed: an effort was made to create a wider inner space, by enlarging the two central domes and connecting the left and right wings to the central rooms in a more open way. Moreover, the number of windows was almost doubled, what makes this mosque’s interior better illuminated.
On the right of the picture: the platform for the singers. On special occasions – the last evening of Ramadan, Kandil (= birthday of the prophet Muhammad), and other – the solemn prayer can be accompanied by a male chorus reciting sacred texts.
