Research regarding Kiliç Arslan is going on at this spot, or rather, a restoration of his palace (from the Wikipedia: “Kilij Arslan (Arabic: قلج أرسلان, Qilij Arslān; Turkish: I. Kılıç Arslan) was the Seljuk Sultan of Rûm from 1092 until his death in 1107. He ruled the Sultanate during the time of the First Crusade and thus faced the brunt of the entire attack.”) is under way. I am not very impressed with Turkish restorations in general, they leave the “restored”spots looking brand new for ages. I took pictures of the plans, and they make me frown. On the other hand, the remains of the palace used to be covered by a kind of concrete tent that was ugly. So who knows?
