Edirne december 2009 6449.jpg

At the museum, north of the Selimiye and well-worth a visit.

Eclectic festive costume, from which two items are interesting: the belt with his buckle (late Ottoman, 19th or early 20th century) en especially the sleeveless coat (mid 19th century).
This richly with gold thread embroidered coat belongs to a moslim dress from Skodra/Skutari (Northern Albania) and was probably brought along with refugees who fled their home region when Albania became independent (1912).

On the wall, some cloth belts with embroidered endings are exhibited (19th and 20th century). They are called ‘işlemeli bağ’ or ‘uçkur’.
