We are at the graveyard outside the türbe of Mahmut II, along the Divan Yolu shortly before the Çemberlitaş tramway stop.
Here rests Ahmed Fetih Paşa, the first Turkish Museum director, died 1857. I came across an article on the web where it is stated he repaired the Hagia Irene (see my Topkapı gallery) by Field Marshal Ahmed Fethi Paşa in 1846 and became the first Turkish museum. It was used as the Military Museum from 1908 until 1978 when it was turned over to the Turkish Ministry of Culture. That explains the military look of the grave monument. 5679
