I found there was a church hidden in a district I thought I knew like the palm of my hand. This is its front. I understood the building was renovated on a spot where there had been a church earlier.

A viewer sent me a translation, for which I am thankful. It reads as follows:

The tablets says:
" During the glorious Sultanate of Abdul Mecit and the Patriarchate of Anthimos and His guardianship this school builduing was built from its foundation with the financial help of the Church. This listurious school, the safe case of wisdom, enter into it oh young man/woman, get illuminated and get the waters of Gods' Knowledge and all needed arms for life. January 1st,1850."
