The mosque was built by the mother of Yavuz Sultan Selim, Gülbahar Hatun. Of the original complex only the mosque, the tomb and a recently renovated fountain have remained. It is thought that it was built towards the year 911 (1505-1506) according to the inscription of the tomb.
During a restorations made in the 1970s, all the decorations of the mosque, including the domes of the narthex, were renewed, while the edges of the mihrab were also painted. The fountain in the middle of the courtyard was completed on the existing ruins. The tomb to the east of the mosque is in the form of an octagonal prism and has a dome; The lead covered and slightly pointed dome is placed on an octagonal drum. Except for the north face of the tomb, there are windows on all its facades.
