Text on site: The tower was constructed between the years 1437 and 1440. It stands on the moat wall, has a semi-circular plan, a domed roof and is single storied. The outer wall of the castle was constructed in front of the tower between 1480 and 1522. On the northern face of the tower, four carvings may be seen, forming a diamond shape. The upper one is a relief of John the Baptist, holding the lamp of religion in his left hand. Behind the lamp, the pennant of the order can be seen. A small Maltese cross iscarved in the centre of the group. The carvings have survived 500 years to the present day and are a testimonial to the respect which the Turkish Nation shows to other people and other beliefs.
