The Citadel was built on Cape Diamant, the city's highest point. It was finished in 1832 by the British to protect themselves against the French. Since 1920, it has served as a base for the Royal 22nd Regiment. The Royal 22nd is the only completely French speaking regiment in the Canadian army.
