Game 1 of the World Series between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Yankees on October 3, 1956. The Dodgers beat the Yankees 6-3. Gil Hodges just hit a three-run home run off of Whitey Ford in the third inning. Base runners: Pee Wee Reese was on second and Duke Snider was on first. Carl Furillo was on deck, waiting to hit. Fielders for the Yankees: Yogi Berra (catcher), Moose Skowron (first base), Billy Martin (second base), Gil McDougald (shortstop), Andy Carey (third base), Enos Slaughter (left field), Mickey Mantle (center field) and Hank Bauer (right field). The Brooklyn Dodgers' 1955 World Series Championship flag was hanging on the scoreboard flagpole.
