Green-Meldrim House (built in 1853) off of Madison Square- Savannah, Georgia. We toured this house.

Many historic houses in Savannah like this one are open to the public.
When Savannah surrendered to the Union in 1864, the owner of this house Charles Green offered it to General Sherman to serve as his headquarters while he was in Savannah. Sherman sent a famous telegram from this house in which he presented President Lincoln with Savannah as a Christmas gift.
