A television crew setting up in the Ginza District (upscale shopping) in Tokyo

A major street in Ginza is closed to traffic on Saturdays as shown here.
Ginza is Tokyo's most famous upscale shopping, dining and entertainment district. Many department stores, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and night clubs are located here. Shopping stores dominate the district.
Ginza contains some of the most expensive real estate in Japan. One square meter in the district's center is worth over ten million yen. Virtually every leading brand name in fashion and cosmetics has a presence in this district. High prices, such as the infamous $10 cup of coffee, are the norm in this district.
The streets in Tokyo are spotless. There are no rubbish cans on the streets. Presumably you are expected to carry your garbage until you can dispose of it in some other way - perhaps at home or at the office.
