We toured this Museum.
The Rock n Soul Museum was created by the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of American History. The Rock n Soul Museum covers the history of rock and soul music using audio/visual presentations. The emphasis of the exhibits is on the Memphis musical scene and the racial and socioeconomic barriers that had to be overcome by the musical pioneers. Some of the featured exhibits in the Museum cover: influence of rural America in the 1930's; influence of Beale Street and the Memphis musical scene in the 1940's; influence of radio and local record companies, such as Sun, in the 1950's; influence of soul music and the local record companies, such as Stax, in the 1960's and 1970's; the interconnection between rock n soul music and the civil rights movement.
