Part of the Cambodian/Indian restoration project is in the background.
Roots from the large Banyon tree appear to swallow parts of the temple - roots sought crevices among the large stones of the building.
Ta Prohm was a Buddhist temple built in the 12th century - originally known as "Monastery of the King." Although the temple is being restored via a Cambodian/Indian project, the building has been left mostly untouched by archaeologists except for the clearing of a path for visitors and structural strengthening to stave of further deterioration. On UNESCO's World Heritage list since 1992.
Ta Prohm is conspicuous in the movie "Tomb Raider" with Angelina Jolie.
