Sally, Stan and Alan exploring the 9th century c.e. Bakong Temple - part of the Roluos Group, Cambodia.

In Angkor, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia.
It's amazing how much access is permitted to tourists in these temples given the age and relative fragility of these temples.
The Bakong Temple was at the center of the first capital Hariharalaya of the Khmer Empire (present day Cambodia) - in the Angkorian area.
The Khmer Empire's official religions were Hinduism and Buddhism at various times.
Bakong's stone construction and architectural style set the standards for construction in the Khmer Empire for approximately 400 years.
Bakong and other monuments and temples near it are considered part of the Roluos Group so named because of the Group's proximity to the modern town of Roluos. The Roluos Group is near the Angkor Archaeological Park.
