Carving of a palace.
The Hindu temple complex of Sambor Prei Kuk was established in the early 6th century, c.e. making the structures here some of the oldest in Cambodia and the most impressive group of pre-Angkorian monuments. There are more than 100 mainly brick temples scattered throughout the forest. Originally Sambor Prei Tuk was called Isanapura. The last land mines of Sambor Prei Tuk from previous wars (beginning in the 1970's - Khmer Rouge, etc.) were cleared in 2008.
