Silk lanterns hanging across a street in Old Town - Hoi An, Vietnam

The Ancient House (see next two photos)is located on this street.
The Old Town in Hoi An stretches along the Thu Bon River on the southern edge of town. In 1999 UNESCO declared Old Town a World Heritage Site to preserve its historical structures. Old Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. It was largest harbor in Southeast Asia in the 1st century. In the 16th and 17th centuries Old Town was an important Vietnamese trading center. Over the centuries this area was settled by Chinese, Japanese, Dutch and Indian people.
