We had just left the Dead Sea.
In the Judean Desert.
The West Bank includes such towns as Bethlehem and Jericho. It was Jordanian territory. Israel has occupied it since the Six Day War (June, 1967). Much of the West Bank was turned over to Palestinian Authorities after the 1993 Oslo Accords.
