Volcanic rock on a back road next to the Jordan River and close to the Sea of Galilee.

This area lies on one of the earth's major geological fault lines, the Syrian/African Rift (the "Great Rift"). This rift has caused volcanic eruptions over the ages. The volcanic material has enriched the soil such that the Jordan Valley, south of the Sea of Galilee has highly successful agricultural kibbutzim.
