The beginning of the elk rut in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, USA
Lighting conditions were marginal most of the time and the activity was late in the afternoon as the sun was already low and behind clouds or mountains.
Still a good trip.
Thanks Michael, The main problem I had during the "busy" part of the day was lack of light.
It was late afternoon, early evening and it would have been perfect if clouds hadn't blocked the sun.
I looked through your gallery also. Great job.
Sometimes I wish we could rig up a giant strobetoget more detail. Oh Well.

Great elk photos. I am shooting elk currently in Arkansas. It is interesting to contrast my work with yours. I am sure you have the same issues I have with the blocking up in faces in shadow and the like. Most of all, they just don't cooperate. Very nice collection and well done. We are not in the rut yet, but we are in pre-rut. I imagine you are going full bore up there.
