Had the chance to present on an NMC's involvement in healthcare reform at session II of the American College of Healthcare Executive's Senior Leaders' program in 2013 at Torrey Pines in LaJolla, California .. home of not only the golf course of US Open fame, but a very cool nature reserve. I enjoyed a 3.5 mile hike in the reserve during my open afternoon -- even with overcast skies, it was well worth it. Not what I think of as classic "beauty" in landscape (as I resonate with the greens of grass and the blues of the sky), but so different that it was intriguing and beautiful in it's own way. I paused to dip my feet in the Pacific at the midpoint and then paused again to soak in the arommmma of the pines on the hike back. Nice to wander off amidst this unusual landscape.
