After a touching Senior Day Celebration on Saturday which they revisited for just a moment on Sunday to create "Senior Weekend", St. Mike’s wrapped up its 2010 season by hosting a pair of close games vs #4 Assumption. After a lead-off HR for the visitors, Steph shut down Assumption into the late innings until they finally strung together hits and turned a 1-0 lead into a 4-0 win. Game two was an equally well played game on both sides, with KellyE on the mound for SMC. Assumption again managed early fireworks and then strung together some hits late enroute to a 5-0 win. Despite re-aggravating her chronically re-spraining ankle yesterday, Kate punctuated her final day in a St. Mike’s uniform with a sharp single and a number of fine plays at Short. She wasn’t the only hobbled Senior Purple Knight, as LindsayB played solid defense despite a very painful knee injury suffered in extra inning against AIC.

Fittingly, the final defensive out of the season came on a 4-senior play: Heather called the pitch, KellyE fired it, Katelyn snared the grounder and fired to LindsayB for the out. It’s been a heck of a career for Katelyn and her three senior classmates. Our thanks to each of them, their coaches, all their teammates, and all their families and friends for all the fun and excitement and hooohaaa over the past four years.
