Emmer is batting leadoff while playing shortstop or catcher for the 8th grade Raiders.

Or was, that is. In their 4th game, she blocked a low pitch and it skittered to the side. The runner from 3rd charged, Em grabbed the ball and raced back to the plate to tag the sliding runner -- who was out as Em hung onto the ball. Em was shaken in the collision with the larger player, but she finished the inning -- catching strike 3 for the final out. She wiped away the tears to bat the next inning, but then had to take herself out of the game during the next inning. Sure enough ... broken glove hand ... out 6-8 weeks. Dang. You played great, Emmer.

HEY!! The cast came off in four weeks and Emmer was cleared to play -- and started at shortstop 28 hours after getting her cast off! Amazing ... Welcome back, Emmer!
