Kate was one of four St. Michael's College Juniors inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society in 2009 ... They tell us only 5% of colleges in the US are approved to host PBK chapters and only 20 of the nation's 220 Catholic Colleges have that recognition - so it's a cool honor, especially for a Junior. President Neuhauser spoke well, Dr. Marquess (an english prof of mine and former intramural basketball rival) did the intros, the guest speaker gave an intriguing look at the origins of the liberal arts approach, and Fr. Brian Cummings (a former dorm-mate of mine) did the closing prayer to a nice ceremony. In true Kater form, she couldn't stay for refreshments after as she was rushing off to get her sprained ankle taped in hopes of catching the last few minutes of softball practice -- despite the next day's games already having been called due to rain.
