I wandered into a gymnastics event between South Burlington, Randolph, and Hardwick (I think) and took my first gymnastics pictures -- ever. The lighting was horrid and no flash photography was allowed, so I shot at ASA 800 at 1/80th of a second -- bringing blur and grain clearly into the picture. It was a learning lesson as I couldn't anticipate the action well, hadn't thought through dramatic angles, and didn't know what would be distracting for the athletes ... Still, it's a start ...
