In a classic battle of undefeated teams, the 13-0 BFA Comets took on the 13-0 Essex Hornets in a rematch of the 2005 championship game. The defending champion Comets broke open a 1-1 game with a huge 6th inning and went on to win, 8-1. Kate started and went the distance in a strong performance on the mound. Every bat contributed -- and once again, BFA brought strong defense, anchored by Heather, Steph, & Megan's strong play.
After the game, Coach Berthiaume announced that Kate had been named the "Gatorade Player of the Year" ... an honor she had not expected -- thought her friendly rival MacKenzie Pratt would win -- but it is a tribute to the Comet team, showing what a pitcher can do with incredible defense and strong run support.
