As Vermont's 11-12 Softball State Champ, Fairfax earned a trip to Albany and the Little League Eastern Regionals. Kayla M got the tournament's attention on Saturday by throwing a perfect game in the opener, a 2-0 win over Connecticut! I was able to pop down to Albany on Sunday to see game two and it was quite a treat to see some of the nex gens from winter pitching clinic in action. Kaitlyn B shut down Maine at the start and Vermont raced out to a 3-0 lead. However, Maine had already earned a reputation for hot bats in their 8-1 win over Rhode Island the day before, and they fought their way back into the game and took the win. As Kaitlyn's occassional bullpen catcher in the winter, I knew her arm was strong. Now, I know how strong her heart is after watching her battle a tough lineup, handle adversity, and keep getting up after literally getting hit with line drives multiple times. Bravo! UPDATE: Vermont had a great showing in the Eastern Regionals, with three wins in pool play earning them a spot in the semifinals! This time, CT came away with the win and Vermont comes home, heads held high, having played fabulously! Way to go, girls!
