Spontaneity set in on a beautiful October morning and suddenly, we were at The Currier Museum in Manchester, NH – where Emily is employed part-time. It’s an impressive place: originals from Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Georgia O’Keefe, and soooo much more: paintings, sculptures, glassware, pewter, furniture, lithographs, pottery, works that had been recovered from Nazi looting, works that date back into the 1200’s, an entire Frank Lloyd Wright house -- very cool. Plus, the special exhibit that runs through January 2011 is “The Secret Life of Art”, a peek behind the scenes of the museum world, absolutely fascinating and perhaps an inspiration to the young gallerist. Non-flash photography was allowed, except in the special collection exhibit (and I respected that, taking no photos in that exhibit). The hug alone was worth the drive, but the people we met were delightful and the collection was fabulous.
