This man, whom I suspect is Chinese and blind, is playing an Erhu, a two stringed violin like instrument, payed with a violin like bow. It is often used in classical Chinese musical. [Pronounced [(Er as in urn – who) or [Ur’ who]]. It dates to the Tang dynasty [610 to 907]. The two strings are usually tuned to D and A and the bow is run between the two strings so the bow cannot be released from the instrument without removing at least one string.
