(Our Lady of Hope) was completed in 1541 and is still occupied by nuns of the order of St. Francis. A veritable treasure trove of religious art, the chapel is embellished with a fabulous canvas of 18th-century azulejos tiles crafted by António de Oliveira Bernardes, the greatest master of the genre. The altar, meanwhile, is a riot of gilded woodwork.
