This photo is a few years old. These two Redheaded Woodpeckers are over a foot long from head to tail. Every spring they would come around this area and play in the trees. This year there is only one. Every time I hear it calling for a mate I run outside with my crammer in hand hoping to get a picture. But the task seems as impossible for me as it is for this beautiful bird to have it's calls answered.
