Hairy Woodpecker, Downy Woodpeckers, and Titmouse
The little male Downy is waiting his turn on the suet feeder...see the size difference? And yes...it is snowing again. The second part of the double whammy of winter storms.

One more of the Raccoon
It really has quite the thick winter coat right now, and it sure needs it!

Raccoon
He is frantically looking for corn buried beneath the snow...no wonder, the second winter storm in less than a week is approaching!

Oh No, not the Raccoon again!
We thought it had left the area, since Frank secured our only remaining suet feeder. He had fixed it right before it snowed one time in January, and the next day we found it on top of the deck beam buried in snow...but intact. The raccoon had stolen the last two we had.

One more of "Spikey"
The generator ran out of gasoline about 9 AM. Frank had to get all the gas from our only functioning vehicle, a 1979 Ford truck. The transmission went on our primary vehicle on Feb 3rd. Needless to say, it isn't fixed yet. At least they had the power back on by 4 PM. In the midst of this storm, I really don't know what we would have done. (Doesn't the little sparrow look really tiny?)

"Spikey" close-up
It's finally getting a little brighter out there.

Frank, my "Dear"
After starting the generator, and catching a few more zzzz's, Frank is performing his morning ritual of feeding the deer. It's still pretty dark out there.

Our Deer
It was still pretty dark and snowing, but they want some food!

"Spikey"
It was still pretty dark when he showed up, the camera wouldn't take anything but "blue" pictures. I believe it has to do with the low light and our thermal windows, notice the slow shutter speeds...and his antlers. They look identical to the tree branches!

Second big winter storm!
It starts all over again, this time we lost power for 13 hours. This one of our pond was taken from our living room window, right after it got light. The power went out about 4 AM.

Male Hairy Woodpecker
He has a much longer bill than the Downies, and is larger in size. His size is between a Downy and a Red-Belly, which helped me to identify him. Note that the snow has almost disappeared finally.

Hairy Woodpecker
He is also a first for us. I have understood that they don't cohabit with Downy Woodpeckers, but that doesn't seem to be the case here this year. We also have 3-4 Downys here most of the day. The two species do seem to keep away from each other, even while sharing the same food source.
