While this was supposed to be a good 'color' year, it has been pretty dismal here. Many of the leaves had already fallen or turned brown. The weather was extremely dry during July and August, preceded by a relatively wet spring with temperature extremes. The Black Walnuts were prolific this year, last year we had none.
This is a panorama of Fall color taken October 30th, 2005 since there is no gallery for last year. Original can be seen here
These 12 images represent the color this year, starting with one image from October 7th, taken right at dusk and after a front had passed through. The next group was taken October 19th on a partly cloudy day. Many are images of the trees across I-50, and were taken from our neighbor's yard. The rest are the hill on the eastern side of our hollow and our view to the north out of the hollow. The most recent were taken October 22nd, an overcast day with breaks in the clouds which produced some very intriguing lighting opportunites. Today, October 23rd, it is snowing and blowing. :)
The gallery is ordered in descending order (the most recent first).
