Wow, great photo. I must admit, I am a sucker for beautiful, nicely manicured, feminine hands. The beads, or lights, or wahtever they are, with the reflection, make a terrific, original frame for that nice hand. Well done.

Yep. That twice a month girly ritual(or less if you're like me and brave the frowns and tsks of disapproval of the technicians because I show up only once every three weeks). For the uninitiated (a.k.a. the smart ones) the ritual (a.k.a. "the fill") goes like this: You look at your hands in disgust, make a face and head to the nail salon. Apologies (non-verbal) and excuses (many) are in order as the nail-priests stare in horror at the old polish and neglect. Purification is next (polish removal), followed by penance - filing, grinding, rebuilding, filing, grinding, and more filing. Buff. Then another round of cleansing purification is in order. "Go to sink. Wash good." This removes all traces of the evil you have done to your nails in the last few weeks - the evil that now looks like a whitish powder all over your fingers.
Once you are cleansed and purified, you are ordered: "Pick color." Do NOT choose something a high school girl would pick, unless you are a high school girl. Do NOT choose the same color twice in a row. Do NOT choose an "out of season" color. They will allow you to have it, but you will face that look of silent disapproval after the single question, "THIS your color??" A nod of the head is enough.
The color of choice is applied and a top coat to make it even shinier. And once again, you are brand new - perfect. "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!" You are reminded as you leave the penance chair and move to the holding area to let everything dry. Now that you are perfect, they carry your purse, coat and anything else (your camera!) that you've brought in with you. You are deposited, with the other women, at the pink table, decorated with lit pearls, offered a beverage (that you can't touch because your nails are wet and touching anything for the next 15 minutes invites a smudge, which means a "redo" and trust me, you don't want to ask for that.)
You sit with the other women, hands laid lightly on the table, a soft fan blowing on your nails until the timer goes off. No one speaks. We are as silent as people at a seance waiting for the table to tilt or lift. Finally, there is the ding of a timer and you are allowed to leave... the words "You come sooner next time!" following you out the door.
The girly ritual.

Let everyone else run each other over trying to save a few bucks on Christmas presents. ;) Perfect time to get your nails done.

Very nice.. the shine of fresh nailpolish, the shine of pearls, the shine of the reflection. Very feminine...

Jealous, I wished I was allowed to have nails like this. I like the reflection of the rose colored pearls and the matching nailpolish. Very girly.
