I've covered the Community Show for the newspaper for the last six years. This year, on a whim, I entered some photographs. I've never entered anything - anywhere - ever. To be honest, I almost didn't enter this, even after I'd carefully put the photos together in precisely the way the entry book said had to be done. I almost didn't enter even when I drove my photos up to the show about 45 minutes before entries closed.
I went back that night to take photos for the paper and was .. well, shocked .. when people came up to me congratulating me on winning Grand Champion. I looked at that purple ribbon attached to my shot of rooftops in Quebec and couldn't stop grinning - still am. It's a little show, but the judge is a professional photographer who also judges bigger events - and I was told he said it could win against stiffer competition.
Still grinning.
