This was taken at Antietam Battlefield. The tower here overlooks what is called "The Bloody Lane" and the "Bloody Cornfield." The battle took place Sept. 17, 1862 and was said to be the bloodiest of the entire war. It is eerie to look out across what is now so very peaceful, the sun shining and the only sound that of insects humming and the wind in the corn, and to imagine how it was that day. I have other photos from the site that I'll post later.
