Corymbia citriodora (Myrtaceae). A very fine tree and a personal favourite, Lemon-scented Gum is abundant in the drier forests in my home district. The leaves are indeed lemon-scented when crushed. It sheds it bark annually starting in October and November, revealing new bark that is at first usually either pink or orange or pale yellow. At Christmas time, the forests glow with the new bark, which gradually fades to near-white before the process starts all over again the following year.
