Dainty Grass-blue

female, Zizula hylax, Lycaenidae
With a wingspan of 15-16 mm, this is the second smallest butterfly in Australia.
Until a few months ago, it was a rare visitor to my garden. But recently they have discovered their caterpillar foodplant and proliferated; a few days ago I counted 17 and observed them laying eggs.

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Fine shot of this tiny butterfly, and how nice that you now have a lot of them in your garden.
