Echidna

This egg-laying mammal is digging for the ants or termites on which it feeds.
That is its snout pointing downwards, and front left leg with which it is digging.

well caught during its lunchtime...interesting the spines sport different colours... a sympathetic creature that doesn't look like a typical mammal at all..

Fascinating animal, the quills look formidable.
Almost anything made of wood here is termite infested, so they would probably prosper here.
