Water Gum (Tristaniopsis exiliflora)

A beautiful streamside tree of tropical north Queensland.
It is in the myrtle family (Myrtaceae) and quite closely related to eucalypts ( http://www.pbase.com/donfranklin/eucalypts ) which are better-known components of so much of Australia's woodlands and forests.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Welcome back, Don!! What a cool looking image to start back with..
Trees without traditional bark are very intriguing..
