stick insect

best viewed at original size

Found this individual whilst cutting up some prunings. Its body is about 16 cm long.

PS. Staff from the Qld Museum have since identified this for me as Wulfing's Stick Insect (Acrophylla wuelfingi).

That's a big one, Don. 16 cm is about twice the length of the walking sticks I'm used to seeing. Great find and a nice capture. Vote.

Wow! What a great find and a fantastic shot. Don't know if they are like ours here, but you rarely see them as they live up in treetops for most of the year. V
