Leichhardt's Yellowjacket (Corymbia leichhardtii)

This species is named for Ludwig Leichhardt (1813–1848), pioneering explorer of north Queensland and an avid botanist and plant collector.
It is likely the Leichhardt discovered the species – he certainly referred to it in his journal – but if he collected a specimen it was lost in a tragic accident https://researchonline.jcu.edu.au/1744/).

The sun really sets off the spiky hairy details - looks electric! I like the colors.
