Black Mountain

best viewed at original size

This natural pile of rocks rises 360 m above the surrounding plain.
The rocks are granite boulders blackened by algae growing on them.
The rocks are mostly bare of trees and shrubs because there's no soil between rocks. Due to some unusual chemistry, the soil has washed away over aeons.
