Lynd River channel

best viewed at original size

'Tis late in the dry season and out on the hot plains the last thing one expects to see is running water.
But the Lynd River flows strong and clear - this is but one channel - fed by powerful springs emerging from the nearby volcanic plain.
The plain is a shield of porous basalt rock that 'catches' water in the wet season and feeds it out at the margins all year long.

That's a beautiful river and nice to hear it runs all year long, despite the dry season.

Streams that run through the dry - what a blessing. A riverscape with special appeal and mood.
