Anzac Flower (Montanoa hibiscifolia)

best viewed at original size

I’m intrigued that a plant native to central America could acquire such an utterly Australian common name. It is also known as White Tree-daisy.
Anzac Flower is a shrub that grows in north Queensland as a weed on the margins of rainforest.

I'm sure the central Americans had a much more imaginative name for this cheery flower. Daisy, which comes from old English, 'day's eye' comes close.
