There wasn’t many rice paddies in this landscape – I seem to have picked them out.
In contrast to the food forest around Sarinbuana - http://www.pbase.com/donfranklin/foodforest - this farm forest landscape was dominated by a single cash-crop tree species, evident in this image.
This tree is cloves. The aromatic flowers are harvested to be incorporated into cigarettes.
