The 8-cm-long fruits of this rainforest tree are woody and not edible. The species occurs only in the Wet Tropics region of far north Queensland.
Queensland Maple is a prized timber for cabinet-making, pink in colour, but attempts to grow it in plantations have been mostly unsuccessful and there is a complete ban on the logging of rainforests in Australia, so it is now scarcely available.
It was formerly also used as plywood in aircraft, and for the manufacture of aircraft propellers and rifle stocks. (source: Australian Tropical Rainforest Plants)
