Ant Plant (Myrmecodia sp)

Ant Plants grow on trees, but they are epiphytes not parasites. This is a young plant that has yet to develop branches. The next image shows a mature plant, illustrating why they’re called Ant Plants.

How interesting to see these pictures of an Ant plant and to learn how it got its name, which I didn't know. I've got a flowering specimen from Daintree National Park in my gallery. Many thanks! v

As I've observed from your images before, you have some very different forms of plants and animals in Australia! The two shots do show how this 'Ant Plant' matures
